Snow has been falling steadily today.  Even so, there are still wonderful things to see.  A big great grey owl perched on a wire along the side of the highway, watching for "dinner" that might appear below.  A muskrat climbed up onto the side of the highway beside the lake.  Who knows what little muskratty thought he must have had as he left the safety of the snow and bullrushes, to expose himself  to potential danger on the wide open road.

Our snow shoe trail in the bush is particularly beautiful right now, with the trees so heavily draped in snow.  It is like being inside a Christmas card.

Chickadees forage in the branches, nuthatches worry their way along the tree trunks, blue jays call in the background, and a noisey group of evening grosbeaks arrived at the feeder this morning.

We had a special treat this week, with the magnificent sight of seven wolves on the ice.   We are often reminded and grateful that our Whiteshell Park remains so pristine and that the wildlife is abundant.

This has been an exceptional year for seeing these beautiful animals, so if you want such an opportunity, now is the time!  Guests have seen them regularly, and also heard them at night.  This is always a magical happening.  One of our guests tried calling when he saw them on the ice, and he was rewarded with them answering him back!  He managed to record it with his camera.  What a wonderful once in a lifetime experience to capture.

On a daily basis, we still have lots of "kodak" moments with wildlife sightings.  A pine martin scurried across the road today.  Our resident fox paid us a visit, and his coat is now looking very thick and warm.  And of course, there are lots of deer.  One big surprise was the porcupine who waddled through the yard.  An eagle sat in a tree beside the hiking trail, looking very regal.

A visit to the campground down the road is enhanced by the chickadees that land on our hands to accept our  offering of sunflower seed, and we enjoy a thermos of tea at a picnic table sheltered from the wind.

There is so much to observe and enjoy right now...........We invite you to come and see for yourself!!

From our "wild life" to your's,
